Post-Campaign Update 4: Character Sheets and Printing Presses!

Greetings, heroes and hellraisers!
We've got one HELL of an update for you fine backers today. A little bit of bad news first: while the risograph maps started strong, an error in the file preparation led to some misprints that weren't caught until the whole batch was finished. We will be reprinting them all, and will be shipping out the offprints as free bonuses to apologize for the delay.
The Character Sheet
Rough scan, final product will be cleaned up.
Feast your eyes. Daniel just finished hand-inking the official Duginthroat Divided character sheet, and they're fit for the printer. In the meanwhile, if you don't mind a bit of scuzz feel free free to print this one out for your next game! Maybe use your work printer, though -- it's a lot of black ink.
We've also finalized the dust jacket, ripple tracker, and punchout tokens, which means all of the stretch goals you helped us hit are now complete -- all except Brian Yaksha's Rogue Renderer table, which is being designed as a one-click digital generator, to be hosted on the official Mudknight Media website.
We Have a Website
Mudknight.media is our new homepage, and while it's a little spartan right now we're really looking to jazz it up in the coming months. It'll be our combination storefront, blog, TTRPG resource center, and what will soon be the premier TTRPG print shop, because...
We Bought a Riso Machine
It's true. Thanks to your support, Mudknight Media is now a fully-incorporated publisher and print shop, and we've gone ahead and bought a RISO Model MH9350 risograph machine straight from Japan. It's going to be here in a few weeks, so for Duginthroat Divided we're still reliant on our local riso club shop,
All Hell is Breaking Loose
Me and Brian spent countless hours during the initial writing and designing phase of Duginthroat Divided ranting about adventures, long before the Kickstarter had even started. I reached out to him as he offered mentorship for novice adventure writers some years back, and kept bugging him (and asking Walt to bug him) for the following two years until he responded.
Getting to know what tickles Yaksha's facinations and what grinds his gears made me apreciate his works all the more and consider him a dear friend. During a podcast interview, he mentioned that he hated adventures about "Stealing family rubies from Tiger Princesses and watching out for the skeleton crocs in the acid pools!" Briefly after, I mentioned during one of our talks that I wanted him to write excactly that adventure once Duginthroat was done. He managed to weasel himself out from the initial premise, and Duginthroat Divided is still being processed before printing, but here we are.
I made sure to delegate most responsibilities for Tiger Princess to the other Mudknights so I could focus on finishing Duginthroat Divided, but the ink is still mine. You cannot talk me out of illustrating a Brian Yaksha adventure, no matter the obligations.
If you don't back The Tiger Princess of Treacherous Triupura on Backerkit, I suggest you to read Brian's other adventures for Troika, Frontier Scum or even his own Rakehell. They are all amazing and if you liked what you've seen of his work with Duginthroat, you will love Brian's other works. After all, he implemented Rule #0 to Cy_Borg. (Those who knows, knows.)
Mudknight Media has grown a lot since Duginthroat launched on Kickstarter and we couldn't have done it without you, we're about to become a real publishing house with an actual risogaph and magazine binder and we now have a real warehouse in Sweden, operated by our partners in Oakhammer Games. We will be printing, distributing, fulfilling but most of all create many familiar and strange books in the near future! Keep an eye out.
All the best, - Daniel
Post-Campaign Update 3: Maps, Mudknight, and More!

Greetings, good fans!
To start, we'd like to apologize for the radio silence on our end. Trust that we've not been resting on our laurels; quite the contrary! Emil's final proofread is now done, as well as the OSE conversion for The Curious Creeps of Crimson Creek. As mentioned in our last missive, the casette tapes have been printed and boxed, and the book itself has finished layout and is being prepped for print as we speak.
No, what was holding us up was the riso maps -- for those unfamiliar, risograph printing involves creating a unique stencil for each color involved, and pressing the ink directly into the paper. It's a time-consuming process, especially because the vibrancy that you get from riso comes from using a lot of ink, which means pages take forever to dry. But it's all worth it when you see the results:
Hand-drawn, hand-scanned, hand-pressed. We take "human made" very seriously here.
But that's not all we've been doing! If you remember our November update, Daniel mentioned that Duginthroat Divided was only the beginning. We've got big plans for Mudknight Media, and we're ready to announce that we're going to be taking part in the upcoming Old School Essentials Demon Month!
We're partnering with acclaimed writer Brian Yaksha (Rakehell, Throne of Avarice) to bring you The Tiger Princess of Treacherous Tripura, an old-school citycrawl through the profane realms of Vedic mythology. Inspired by the classic Judges Guild module "City-State of the Invincible Overlord," this book will provide everything you need to bring the city of Tripura -- home to man-eating rakshasa, insidious asura, and a bevy of other beings (both sublime and foul) -- to life.
Suffice it to say, there's a lot of work being done here at Mudknight HQ, and we hope you're just as excited about it as we are. Thank you all again for your continued support!
Hang tight and stay hungry! -DAI
Post-Campaign Update 2: New Year, New Tapes!

Happy New Year, Honored Backers!
We hope that this year brings all of you health and happiness. We know it's going to bring you Duginthroat Divided, because Daniel has just finished putting the last touches on the interior of the book and has sent it back to Emil for a final proofread before printing!
That means that right now we're looking at a mid-February print date, with books arriving at your doorstep by May at the latest and PDFs well before then. Here are a few more spreads to tide you over:
Daniel has also received the cassettes, and they're excellent. While you can find the link to the digital files in our last update, we've also got an actual cassette rip here to really immerse yourself in the old-school atmosphere.
This is a shorter update, but it's just because we're so close to the finish line -- our next update will likely have everything ready to ship out, and will be when we send out our surveys and open up the after-campaign pledge manager.
Until then, proud patrons, stay eager! -DAI
Post-Campaign Update 1: Soundtracks and Spreads!

Season's Greetings, Fair Backers!
It's now been one month since the Duginthroat Divided campaign ended, but we've not been resting on our laurels. Well, maybe I have been, but all the people with important jobs have been working at a breakneck speed to get everything wrapped and shipped as soon as possible. This update has actually been in the hopper for a while now, simply because every time I'm about to hit "publish" Daniel comes back to me with something brand new he's just finished that he can't wait to show off!
So with that said, let's get right to it:
Gelu Morsus, the godfather of grime himself, has just finished the last track on the official Duginthroat Divided soundtrack. You can take a listen to it here (download links will be sent along with the final PDFs). The cassette tapes are being pressed as we speak, so expect some juicy pics of those in our next update.
Daniel's finished up the maps in the book (over a dozen of them!) and has a few new spreads to show off as well:
The map posters are being printed as we speak, and should be arriving sometime later this week or early next.
Next up in the work order are the Ripple Tracker and Character Sheets, which are shaping up very nicely and will be shared in the next update. Old-school TTRPG fans, particularly our European backers, might notice something familiar about their design...
Until then, patrons and followers, Happy Holidays! -DAI
Thank you.

After a perilous journey from the Merchant's March, through the treacherous marshes and woods of Poachers' Path, we are finally here.
I think I speak for everyone involved with Duginthroat Divided when I say: We salute you. No one pointed a poisoned blade at your throat and made you choose to support us, but here we are. I was already planning to put this book out before we decided on crowdfunding, but seeing so many people pledge their support to make it happen has given me a newfound drive to finish it all up in a timely fashion. With wealth comes experience (don't worry, there's no carousing until the job is done!), and I've learned a few valuable lessons in the creative, community, and logistical trades through these last two months: how to prepare files for riso printing (fun!) and not to reach out to every person you have ever talked to in a manic attempt at funding within 24 hours (sorry about that!).
As I said above, Duginthroat Divided would have been released in some form even if we didnt go through Kickstarter, or meet our base goal; as it's just a thing I have to do. If I don't create, I wither. But thanks to your support and faith in my adventure, it will be truly bookshelf-worthy! A lot of the assets included in the Deluxe pledge were not described in great detail as we had both affordable and reliquary versions of some of them in mind (e.g the Ripple tracker and the paper standees/monster reference cards), but thanks to our FIVE HUNDRED BACKERS we can proudly announce that they will be durable, quality game assets worthy of bringing out for reference or grid-based play. The dust-jacket will also have some cool secrets, but we'll let you discover those for yourselves.
The last months have allowed me to make new friendships and acquaintances that will bring more adventures and emergent role-playing projects for future Mudcrawls, including some very exciting modules by other writers. Though classic and familiar, Duginthroat Divided is also unapologetically strange, but always for good reason and always well-grounded within it's own magical logic (I would never refer to it as "gonzo", though I have nothing but respect for the term). This was not designed for everyone. It's for a very specific strain of dungeon weirdos that celebrate the limitless realms of early sword and sorcery, weird fiction and gaming. I think Yochai Gal said it the best when reviewing Curious Creeps: "A Bakshi-esque wizards style world, it's dark with heart and even though it looks weird from the outside, it never acts silly."
When I slapped the Mudknight Media logo onto the Curious Creeps in Crimson Creek, I didn't want it to be taken as the mark of a traditional publisher; it was really just an attempt to make a logo people would recognize and a branding of my own adventures. But from hearing the feedback on both Curious Creeps and talking to like-minded designers and gamers about the kind of stuff we want to see out there, I've come to the conclusion that Mudknight Media should be more like a creative collective of gamers who can't create something ordinary, even if they try really hard.
Some of the profits from this campaign will be spent on shorter-form adventures printed as risographed zines with detachable covers functioning as referee screens that will be released without crowdfunding. We can't spill too many magical beans just yet, but I can say that some new adventure writers will be joining the Mudknight order in the following year. Expect another update with more details very, very soon.
Salutations, and thank you for supporting this adventure. I've been grinning like a deranged goblin for the past 48 hours. Seriously, it's affecting my ability to hide in shadows. - Daniel Harila Carlsen, Mudknight Media
